3 Easy Ways To Get More Steps In

The beginning of your journey into the world of fitness and health can be over whelming. Many people fear they will get laughed in at the gym for looking like a beginner. It takes a great deal of fortitude to get past those first hurdles. When you are on Team Drake. Our coaches meet you where you are at and make a plan from there. We know that if we help a person get momentum forward and get them excited about their journey; the chance of long term success is far greater. If you are completely new to health and fitness. One of the best ways to get started is to incorporate walking in your weekly routine and aim for a number steps each day. Definitely understandable that doesn't always fit in to our busy adult lives. No reason to feel helpless because Team Drake has your back. We are committed to helping as many people a possible through the power of health and wellness.  Here are some great ways that you can sneak in extra steps without even noticing and don't require any cardio equipment. These tips will be just the thing to give you your first wave of momentum into your new life.

1.) Park Far Away - Can't get to the gym to crank out your cardio because you are running around? (no pun intended) When you are doing your daily errands. Consider parking at the very farthest spot you can each time you park your car. That additional 3-4 minutes of walking to and from the car at each place can turn into 25 minutes really fast.  If you are going to friends house near by or a local establishment. You can always walk there and back. Some good walking weather is something we don't get enough of here in Chicago. Take advantage while you can.

2.) Stairs - For those of you who work in office buildings and/ or live in a big apartment complex. You are sitting on a pile of cardio gold. A great way to get more steps and elevate your heart rate is taking the steps instead of the elevator or escalator. This strategy is a winning combo because you not only get more steps in. A solid couple minutes of climbing stairs can elevate your heart rate which will burn more calories and strengthen your cardiovascular system. Park far way from your building with stairs for bonus points!

3.) Doggy - If you have a dog that needs to be walked daily. Consider adding 5-15 minutes each time you walk the pooch. This will not only help you reach your goals, but it will make your doggy happier too :) Who doesn't want to make their doggy happier?! They are man's best friend and it the least we do can do for their level of loyalty and companionship. If you don't have a dog. Consider getting one. The mental health aspects of having a pet can help someone who is struggling. Lot's of people start a fitness journey because they are struggling mentally and physically and want to become a better person. Having a dog around can help you with both aspects.
